Dine Around or DiscoveriesProgram

Such programs as the Dine Around or Discoveries can be used to acquaint members with new restaurants and also to acquaint new professionals with the Chaîne. However, they are not designed to take the place of regular Chaîne events.

In brief, members are sent an announcement stating the name, address, and phone number of a selected restaurant, and the date and time the Dine Around has been scheduled. Members are usually invited to bring guests and are asked to call the restaurant directly for reservations, at which time they indicate they wish to be seated with the group from the Chaîne. No set menu is planned; rather, members order both food and wine from the menu. Individuals pay the restaurant directly for whatever they order.

This program provides a number of advantages. First, it doesn't require a great deal of planning. All that is involved is having one or more people select the restaurants, visit them to explain the concept and solidify arrangements, and mail a flier to the membership with the pertinent information. It works particularly well for bailliages that hold most of their events during a limited time span of only 6-8 months. Off Season, this is a program the bailliage can offer members wishing to enjoy Chaîne camaraderie.

For the restaurant, the program requires no extra cost and no special effort. It does, however, provide significant exposure.
