Why join

The Societe Mondiale du Vin was created for those Chaîne members, either professional or non-professional, who have a special knowledge of or interest in wines and other crafted beverages. It brings these members together within their local bailliage, regionally, and nationally, providing a framework within which to plan special activities, such as tastings or special wine oriented dinners, and a structure within which people with personal wine collections can share their cellars with people who will appreciate their offerings. As well, special trips abroad are planned each year.

The Professionnel du Vin rank (for professionals only)

Since all new Societe Mondiale du Vin members must first be members of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs (or join both simultaneously), this is the ideal place for vineyard owners, winemakers, wine distributors, and wine shop proprietors within the Chaîne professional member structure. A new Professionnel du Vin must pay the Chaine induction and dues fees. He/she will be presented with the appropriate ribbon bearing a special escutcheon and a large Chaine metal plaque for display in the member's establishment. If joining the Societe Mondiale du Vin simultaneously, the member must pay the Societe Mondiale du Vin professional member induction fee and annual dues and will receive an Societe Mondiale du Vin diploma and tastevin to be added to the Professionnel du Vin ribbon plus a large Societe Mondiale du Vin metal plaque for display in the member's establishment.

Fees and dues

National dues are presently $35 per member. New members pay a $60 initiation fee, which includes the cost of the decoration, a small tastevin to be worn on their normal Chaine ribbons, presented upon induction.

Procedures for joining

Candidates for membership must be sponsored by a member of Societe Mondiale du Vin in good standing. The proposed member's application must be approved by the member's chapter Bailli, the regional Bailli or a national officer of the Societe Mondiale du Vin. Separate Mondiale application forms are available from your local Bailliage or the National Office. Application forms (password protected)

Candidates are entered in the membership rolls upon receipt in the National Office of their approved application form and proper payment. New members are formally inducted and receive their decoration and certificate at separate Societe Mondiale du Vin inductions ceramony.
